SK Telecom’s Human Resource Development Program Wins First Prize Given by the Minister of Labor

Secured the highest score among 74 Korea major enterprises’ human resource development centers
On March 10, SK Telecom’s ’Future Management Institute’ won the first prize awarded by the Minister of Labor in recognition of having the best human resource development institute in the ’Internet Communication Training Evaluation’ category. This award proves that the company’s human resource development program is at the highest level for Korean enterprises.
From July to November 2003, the Ministry of Labor carried out three evaluations of 74 Korean major enterprises’ human resource development centers and training service providers that have been offering e-Learning (Internet-based online education) training programs to their employees. The Ministry’s evaluation covered a total of six areas that included the human resource development centers’ vision, strategy, and training development operations, as well as the utilization and outcome of their training programs. As a result, The Ministry finally selected SK Telecom’s ’Future Management Institute’ as the best human resource development center in Korea. An official from the Ministry stated, "The curriculum of the ’Future Management Institute’ is very systematic, and exactly corresponds to the company’s management direction.
In addition, an SK Telecom official revealed that the company provides its employees with systematic training courses in accord with the company’s long-term vision and strategy. This allows the company to be fully responsive to rapidly changing market environments. SK Telecom received this honor in recognition of the excellent level of curriculum development, and the overall high quality of its operation.
Since 1998, SK Telecom has been providing a ’Virtual Learning System’ (VLS), that allows its employees to obtain a variety of work-related knowledge via the Internet. In 2004, the company opened, and has been offering, over 110 online training courses that include such things as marketing, telecommunications technology and new business modeling, in addition to updates on the company’s vision and strategy.
