SK Telecom (President: Jung Uck Seo) announced the founding of a 4-billion-won subsidiary SK Telink to offer a maximum of 64% cheaper international call service than the other service providers.
The brand name of SK Telink’s (President: Moonsoo Pyo) international call service, a voice resale service, is SK International Phone.
SK International Phone has affiliated with the world’s largest long-distance phone company AT&T to provide high-quality, low-rate international calls via E class international lines.
The rates for major countries are as follows (billing unit: six seconds);
U.S.A.: 360 won; Japan: 420 won; China: 950 won; Hong Kong: 510 won, England: 540 won; France: 580 won.
SK International Phone service is first offered to Speed 011 cell phone users, Speed 011 prepaid cell phone users and corporate users starting July 1. The service will become available from August 1 to other cell phone and PCS users. PSTN users will be able to place international calls with a prepaid or credit card to be issued starting September.
To use the service, press 00700+country code+area conde+phone number if you are cell phone or PCS user. Prepaid or credit card holders will have a different connection number.
SK Telink will capitalize its experience and expertise in mobile communications and combine it with highly adaptable management fitting to network operation to deliver high quality services. Its projected sales are 4.2 billion won in 1998 and 100 billion won in 2002.
