SK Telecom Strengthens Focus on Partnerships and Customer Value Through Openness and Collaboration

Unveils 20 new and latest mobile devices, including LTE data modems, smartphones and tablet PCs

SK Telecom (NYSE: SKM) today announced its plans to participate in the "World IT Show 2011" (WIS 2011) at COEX, Seoul, from May 11 to 14. At the exhibition, SK Telecom will showcase advanced technologies and diverse new services based on this year’s theme of "Openness and Collaboration".
In line with its strategy to grow together with its business partners and further provide new value to customers by opening up its ICT and core platforms, SK Telecom will showcase more than 15 key items for open platforms, business solutions and smart devices.
SK Telecom will highlight major services including T Store, ’hoppin’, and Q Store which are based on its open platforms:
T Store, the No.1 application store in Korea, promotes diverse supporting programs, such as T Academy for developers, and currently has about 90,000 applications and contents. Customers will be able to experience and test various applications of T Store at the SK Telecom’s booth.
’hoppin’ is a multi-screen video service that provides seamless multimedia content across a variety of devices, such as smartphone, TV, PC and tablet PC.. This year, it will receive the prestigious "Prime Minister Award" at the 19th Annual Multimedia Technology Award Ceremony which is hosted by the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) during WIS 2011.
Q Store, a new concept commercial shop based on NFC and QR code, provides the lowest prices to customers.
Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPAN) USIM allows for diverse contactless services, such as liquor authentication system, light control solution, electrocardiogram test, and PC security service.
In addition, SK Telecom will showcase its B2B convergence solutions for enhancing work productivity of enterprises in various industries:
SmartLo improves the inefficient process of cargo and logistics management within terminals by utilizing smartphones.
Femtocell Solution, already adopted by Hyundai Heavy Industries Co.Ltd., it enables wireless connection within the ship during the building process..
Smart CEO, a mobile business management solution, allows CEOs of SMEs to use tablet PCs to check current status of business operation (e.g. sales, order, cash flow, etc) from its ERP system and make prompt decisions through unified communication feature (e.g. mail, SMS, note, messenger, etc.).
SK Telecom will also unveil a stronger mobile device lineup, including around 20 smartphones and tablet PCs with different features and sizes. Among them are the Galaxy S II and Motorola Xoom, as well as new devices that are not yet in the market, but will be exclusively available to SK Telecom customers. Visitors will be able to try out different devices at the SK Telecom’s exhibition booth and compare them from each other.
Furthermore, SK Telecom will set up an "Open Collaboration Zone" to allow visitors to experience diverse supporting programs for developers and business partners, including Open Innovation Center, curriculums of T Academy, Mobile Device Test Center, and Open API Policy. Experts who designed business solutions for SMEs will also provide consultation to business partners who seek customized business solutions to increase productivity in their companies.
SK Telecom will show LTE data modems that were used at Korea’s first LTE network demonstration held by the company in April 2011. The LTE data modem models to be displayed at the exhibition are LG Electronics’ SD711 and C-Motech’s CLR-1000KS. Customers can use LTE service by simply connecting the LTE data modem to laptop’s USB port. These two models of LTE data modem will be released in line with LTE commercialization scheduled in July.
SK Telecom also plans to feature its LTE technology through a video demonstration filmed at the press conference for the nation’s first LTE demonstration, which was successfully held at its test-bed last April 25. The demonstration of High Definition (HD) Video Call, 3D video streaming and network based games on its LTE network, and speed comparison with commercial WCDMA network received great attention at the press conference.
