SK Telecom’s ’MoMu’, Online Mobile Communications Museum, Wins A Prize at the ’Webby Awards’ for Two Consecutive Years.

An SK Telecom’s online mobile communications museum called ’MoMu (Mobile Museum: www.momu.co.kr)’ has won a prize at the ’Webby Awards’ for two years in a row.
Since its inception in June 1996, the Webby Awards have been given to the best Internet sites each year after evaluating the functionality, use convenience, creativity, and design of the websites. These awards are globally recognized as the New York Times called them, "The Oscars of the Internet". Therefore, the winner of these awards is considered to be the best website in the world in each of the categories.
In 2006, more than 5,500 websites in 40 countries around the globe were put on exhibition, and were competing with each other. ’MoMu’ received a ’People’s Voice Winner Prize’ in the Webby Awards’ Telecommunications Category, for two consecutive years.
The ’People’s Voice Winner Prize’ is bestowed based on the voting of online users. In this year’s competition, a total of 300,000 online users around the world participated in the voting for their preferred websites.
SK Telecom’s ’MoMu’, which was launched in August 2004, received prizes in two categories at the 9th Webby Awards in 2005. These were: a Webby Awards’ Winner Prize in the ’Best Use of Animation / Moving Images’ category and a ’People’s Voice Winner Prize’ in the Telecommunications category.
SK Telecom remodeled ’MoMu’ with a three dimensional online multimedia technology in September 2005, and submitted it to the 10th Webby Awards in 2006. The ’MoMu’ site has the same subject as that of previous year, but it was built with more sophisticated features and differentiated content.
A ceremony for the awarding of prizes will be held in Cipriani on Wall Street in New York, on June 12, 2006.
