This center is designed to support small and medium-sized business partners who develop and supply wireless Internet content and solutions to SK Telecom).
Since its establishment in April 2005, the Center has provided SK Telecom’s partners with such services as technological consulting, reviewing new business propositions, and billing. The center also offers them a variety of statistical data and market surveys regarding wireless Internet trends, free of charge.
Notably, the Terminal Test Lab in the Center became very popular among business partners as they can utilize terminals and communication systems for the testing of wireless Internet services, free of charge. To date, the use of the NATE Business Center’s expertise and equipment has exceeded 10,000 instances.
As the use of the Center has sharply increased, SK Telecom renewed its activation to further strengthen the supporting functions offered to its business partners. This includes such things as introducing them to consulting manpower for partners’ overseas operations, extending the Terminal Test Lab and improving the convenience of the facilities.
The Center’s professional manpower is available to offer information about the global market situation in real-time to those SK Telecom business partners who plan to advance into overseas markets such as the US, China and Vietnam. The consultants also help them develop new global businesses, and make entry to these markets in joint efforts with SK Telecom.
SK Telecom extended the space of the Terminal Test Lab from 40 pyong to 70 pyong, and increased the number of test terminals from 200 to 500 units. In addition, the company built six more terminal test labs, so a total of nine labs are currently in operation. These efforts will contribute to the partners not having to purchase terminals and communication systems for the testing of wireless Internet services.
To facilitate partner convenience in using the Center, SK Telecom remodeled and enlarged meeting rooms and resting spaces, as well as extending the amount of office supplies.
Through this renewal of the Center, SK Telecom estimates that its partners will be able to save expenditures of approximately KRW1.5 billion a year in the developing and testing of wireless Internet services.
"We saved about KRW50 million in our 2005 expenses by conducting test works at the NATE Business Center. Through this renewal of the Center, we will be able to gain more in-depth information about domestic and overseas market research" said Byung Jun Song, president of Gamevil Co., Ltd. at the opening ceremony of the renewed NATE Business Center.
Shin Bae Kim, president of SK Telecom, stated in his congratulatory speech, "Basically, our business partners’ competitive edge is directly linked to SK Telecom’s competitiveness. We will continue to play a key role in systematically supporting our business partners in order to help them secure a globally competitive technological edge".
The participants in the opening ceremony of the renewed NATE Business Center were: SK Telecom’s executives and directors including President Kim, and 20 CEOs of business partner firms, including the aforementioned president of Gamevil.
