the UCampus will be designed as a State-of-the-art IT-based educational space.
The dream of a ’Ubiquitous Campus’ will come true at Ewha Womans University.
On April 11th, SK Telecom and Ewha Womans University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the University’s Main Building for a comprehensive business cooperation in building a ubiquitous campus (U-Campus). The U-Campus is designed to be a state-of-the-art, futuristic educational space run by Ewha Womans University that has the ambitious goal of becoming a globally-competent university by 2010.
In this joint venture, Shin Bae Kim, president of SK Telecom, and In-Ryung Shin, president of Ewha Womans University, agreed to collaborate in technology areas such as ubiquitous networks, platforms and services during the operational stage, following the successful creation of a world-class ubiquitous campus. Upon finishing this project, a six-story education building of 20,000 pyeong (66,000 square meters) will be built in the university’s athletic field.
The signing of the MOU has paved the way for the construction of a ubiquitous educational environment where students can experience in advance, the future innovative ubiquitous technologies that will revolutionize the way they learn and live on campus. U-Campus is composed of such services as ’U-classrooms’, a ’U-library’, ’U-education courses’, ’U-Communications’, a ’U-Training Center’, ’U-Members’ and ’USecurity’.
"Through the U-Campus project, new services that converge mobile communications networkss, RFID/USN solutions, u-Campus platforms and IT infrastructures, will be introduced to the Ewha Campus. The university students, staff members and alumni, as well as neighboring shop-keepers, will enjoy the convenience and benefits of advanced ubiquitous services" said Kyun Kwan Lim, vice-president and head of SK Telecom’s Business Solution Division.
