Press Release
The service will first be released in China, starting on March 28.
The service area will be extended to 22 countries e.g. Germany and Hong Kong in Europe and Asia within two months, and to America during the first half of this year.
SK Telecom announced that it will launch an International Multimedia Messaging service starting on March 29th. This service is designed to let SK Telecom mobile phone subscribers send and receive multimedia messages e.g. photos and long text messages to subscribers in foreign countries.
Previously when subscribers wanted to transmit photos stored in mobile phones to subscribers in foreign countries, they had to transfer the photos to a computer, and then send them via e-mails. Now if they use the International Multimedia Messaging service, they can send and receive the photos directly via mobile phone.
To use this service, subscribers connect to the multimedia messaging service (MMS) on their mobile phone, and attach the photo files as indicated. They then input "1004 + Country Code + the Receivers’ Mobile Phone Number" and press the "Send Button".
The service will be released in China (for China Mobile & China Unicom subscribers) starting on March 28th. SK Telecom plans to launch the service in 22 countries in Europe and Asia within two months. The service will also be introduced in America during the first half of this year. Each multimedia message transmission rate is KRW 500. The rate of receiving MMS will be charged in accordance with the rates fixed by mobile phone service providers in each country.
