SK Telecom, As A Global Leader in Ubiquitous Services, Plays A Key Role in Presenting ’IT Power, Korea’ during the APEC Summit Talks

SK Telecom (www.sktelecom.com) announced that the company will participate in the APEC Summit Talks IT Exposition, and showcase the world’s best level of mobile communications technologies such as HSDPA, as well as new ubiquitous services aimed at the wired and wireless combined convergence environment. This exposition will take place in BEXCO, Busan from November 15th to 21st.
The IT Exposition will take place during the Summit Talks under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Information and Communication. This will be aimed at showcasing Korea’s state-of-the-art information technologies for important figures participating in the summit, and strengthening its industrial competitive-edge, as well as increasing the national brand image. The exposition consists of eight government exhibition sectors, and four private enterprise exhibition sectors.
Under the slogan ’Ubiquitous and Convergent Services, SK Telecom, as one of four Korean enterprises participating in the IT Exposition, will build a 360m2(about 109pyung) booth at the exhibition hall, and divide it into two sectors that cover ’Ubiquitous and Convergent Services’ and ’Multimedia and Entertainment Services’. These facilities will be available for visitors to directly try a wide range of new technology-based mobile communications services.
In the ’Ubiquitous and Convergent Services’ sector, SK Telecom will present the convergence service technologies between different industries that are blending telecommunications and broadcasting, and telecommunications and finance. These include the Digital Home, Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting, and MONETA. In addition, the company plans to demonstrate new mobile communications services, e.g. HSDPA, WCDMA, etc.
In particular, SK Telecom plans to introduce far more upgraded mobile services by using HSDPA, a next generation mobile communications technology. These include high-speed downloading service of high-capacity multimedia streaming videos like movies, and high-definition video telephony calls with a person located in a far distance.
In the ’Multimedia and Entertainment Services’ sector, a vast array of wireless Internet services will be presented. These include the wired and wireless combined music portal called ’MelOn’, GXG 3D mobile games, and personalized mobile service called ’1mm’.
An SK Telecom official revealed that the company will solidify its position as a global mobile communications leader by presenting a broad spectrum of mobile technologies and convergent services at the IT exposition. This will contribute greatly to an increase in Korea’s IT power throughout the world.
