Shaginchun and Ruoxian, who are Chinese StarCraft gamers, will join SK Telecom’s T1
Chinese StarCraft gamers are now advancing into the Korean professional game industry. On September 6th, T1, SK Telecom’s professional game team, signed a contract with two Chinese professional gamers: Shaginchun (age: 21, ID: PJ, Protoss) and Ruoxian (age: 20, ID: Legendary, Protoss).
Shaginchun, as a Protoss user in Jungkyung, China, used to be a popular and capable professional gamer on the WNV Beijing Team. He was champion in the Chinese WCG tournament for three consecutive years, and ranked at the top in the preliminary matches in China for international tournaments such as CKCG and WEF.
Ruoxian, as a Protoss user in Muhan, China, defeated Yohan Lim of T1 in the main tournament of CKCG2005. He also reached the quarterfinals by ending in a draw with Younguk Park.
Hoon Joo, coach of T1, who participated in the CKCG tournaments, commented "The Chinese gamers’ skill has increased greatly compared with last year. The two gamers who are being scouted to join SK Telecom’s T1 are used to cultivating their abilities in China’s lighter competitive environment for StarCraft players. Thus, if they go through more systematic training in Korea, they will manifest their potential abilities."
An official of SK Telecom’s T1 revealed that the purpose of the scouting is to increase the interest in e-Sports in China, and reinforce the Team. In addition, it will contribute to solidifying the Korean league’s position in the major league of the global e-Sports industry. This scouting will also help SK Telecom activate its business activities in China.
The two players will join the team by October of this year, when their entrance visa to Korea will be issued. T1 will be deeply concerned about them adapting themselves to the new circumstances. To this end, an exclusive interpreter will be fully available to back up the two players.
