SK Telecom announced on August 31st that the number of subscribers to its Internet Customer Center called ’e-Station’, exceeded ten million as of August 25th. This notable outcome was achieved five years after the launch of the e-Station center (www.e-Station.com) in July of 2000.
’e-Station’ is a cyber customer center designed to assist customers in handling their cellular services on their own, 24 hours a day, 365 day a year. Through this center they can immediately determine the status of their service rates and payments, as well as access a wide variety of service guides. They are also able to change their personal information, apply for changes in their present cellular service, and view value-added service rate plans. If they use this center, customers do not need to visit SK Telecom branches or dealer shops physically, nor do they need to make calls to the Customer Service Center (Phone Number: 114 via mobile phone or 1566-0011), to handle the above-mentioned matters.
Of the ten million e-Station subscribers, 70% are in their twenties and thirties, and they are accustomed to using the Internet. e-Station handles a total of 16.4 million customer service issues each month. This is approximately three-fold more than those handled by the Customer Service Center, via telephone. The Customer Service Center manages a total of 5.74 million customer consultations monthly. An SK Telecom official revealed that the number of e-Station users is about 160,000 a day. The use of this service will continue to increase in the future.
Anyone who is an SK Telecom customer can apply for the use of e-Station. They can use all of the services of e-Station free of charge by becoming regular members. To this end, they need to get authentication via the short message service on a cellular phone after subscribing at the e-Station website.
To celebrate e-Station subscribers hitting the ten million mark, SK Telecom held a promotion event in which Bum Sik Han, head of SK Telecom’s ’CS Division’, delivered the 10,000,000th subscriber a round-trip flight ticket to Europe.
In addition, SK Telecom will hold another promotion event that will offer a variety of free gifts to a total of 40,000 e-Station subscribers.
These gifts include round- trip flight tickets to Germany for ten couples, 100 cellular handsets, and digital cameras. Recipients will be
selected through simple quizzes and games. This event called ’Thanks Ten Million Subscribers’ will be run until September 30th.
In addition to using e-Station, SK Telecom customers can make simple inquiries about service rate plans and value-added services, as well as change their personal information through the ’? SK Telecom will continue to stretch the types of consultation and information inquiry services offered on the Internet, or by mobile phone, in order to facilitate customer convenience. If customers press **321 + the Call Button on their cellular phone, they can use the ’? Customer Center’ free of charge.
