Showcases the Korea’s mobile communications technologies of past and present, and presents new future cutting-edge technologies
Bolsters its leadership position in the Korean mobile communications industry by demonstrating a WCDMA service, a 3rd generation mobile phone service

SK Telecom announced its participation in ’Expo Com Wireless KOREA 2005’, which will take place at the COEX Exhibition Center (Samsung-dong, Seoul) from the 18th through the 21st of May. In the exhibition, the company will focus on showcasing the Korea’s mobile communications technologies of past and present, and presenting new future cutting-edge technologies.
’Expo Com Wireless KOREA 2005’ which will take place in the first floor Pacific Hall of the COEX Exhibition Center under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Information and Communications is a Korea’s largest information communications exhibition. About 50 telecom companies around the globe will participate in the exhibition. These include Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Qualcom, etc.
The year 2005 is SK Telecom’s 9th participation in the exhibition since 1997.
In the exhibition, SK Telecom will place ’Mobile History’ pavilion in the front of its exhibition area, and showcase a wide array of mobile terminals ranging from today’s state-of-the-art handsets to car phones at the mobile communications’ initial stage. At the ’Multimedia & Entertainment’ pavilion, the company plans to introduce varied new wired and wireless integrated services such as Melon, Sizzle, GXG, 1mm, and Mobile Cyworld among others.
At the ’Ubiquitous & Convergence’ section, SK Telecom will present cutting-edge mobile communications technologies such as satellite DMB, digital home, Telematics, and MONETA. The satellite DMB service offers a variety of content like streaming video, voice and data by overcoming the space limits of traditional broadcasts. This service is called as ’TV in My Hand’. The digital home service lets users control their house situation, from the remote distance. For instance, they can open their house door, and talk with visitors from outside of their house through mobile remote home control system. The Telematics service offers route guide to both vehicle drivers and pedestrian. This service guides them to get to their final destination through voice instruction. MONETA provides such services as credit card, banking, and membership via a single mobile phone.
In particular, SK Telecom plans to bolster its leadership position in the Korean mobile communications industry by demonstrating a WCDMA service, a 3rd generation mobile phone service, which has been drawing keen attention fro the market. The WCDMA service offers video telephony service that enables customers to communicate while watching each other’s face via mobile phone. Furthermore, it furnishes wireless Internet service that lets customers enjoy high capacity data through rapid data upload and download functions.
During the exhibition period, the company will offer ’NATE Photo’ service which allows customers to print the photos taken by their cellular phone camera. Moreover, various events will be held to give fun to the visitors to SK Telecom booth. These include violin performance and power break dance performed by professional dancers disguised as basic character of SK Telecom’s 1mm service.
