On December 20, an SK Telecom Volunteer Group that included Shin Bae Kim, president of SK Telecom, and Sunny, the customer volunteer group, held a ’Merry Christmas in Hospital Event’ at the Department of Child and Adolescent Health in the Korea University Medical Center.
At the event, the volunteer groups had a great time with the child patients while showing individual dancing, musical performances, magic shows, Hand-bell performances, and other recreations. In particular, President Kim, Myung Sung Lee, head of SK Telecom’s Strategic Technology Group, and Hyung Hee Lee, head of SK Telecom’s Strategy Office, dressed themselves as Santa Clauses, and delivered a large number of Christmas gifts to children in the hospital.
The volunteer groups hold ’Happy Hospital’ events every month at hospitals nationwide. SK Telecom’s Volunteer Group consists of 1,300 employees, and the Sunny customer volunteer group is composed of about 2,000 customers. The two groups have been conducting a wide variety of community relations activities throughout the nation. These include such things as regional social contribution campaigns, volunteer work at social welfare facilities, and donations to social welfare institutions.
In October of 2004, SK Telecom established the ’Beautiful Call Fund’ in a joint effort with the Beautiful Foundation. This event is designed to raise and donate funds for ongoing help for children who are suffering from a serious illness, or physical impediment. Furthermore, the company has been carrying out a ’1004 Love & Sharing Campaign program’ that is aimed at raising funds from customers, and helping disadvantaged neighbors. When the customers donate their Rainbow points, OK Cashback points, or cash, through their cellular phone, SK Telecom deducts the points from their customer service programs, or deducts the donated cash from their monthly bill.
