SK Telecom and the Community Chest will jointly operate a wide variety of programs designed to increase income levels for many Mongolians by carrying out living environment improvement plans.
This project is expected to strengthen the cooperative ties between Korea and Mongolia, and contribute to increasing Korea’s image in the eyes of the Mongolian people.

A ground-breaking ceremony at the livestock experiment station sponsored by SK Telecom took place in Ulanbatarr, Mongolia on September 7th.
This project is designed to support Mongolian nomadic tribes by building a typical fixed village that will both improve the living environment, and increase the residents’ income level. In 2004, SK Telecom donated 100 million Korean won to ’Global Civic Sharing’ for a project that was designated by the Community Chest as part of a series of international community services.
Through the livestock experiment station project, SK Telecom and the Community Chest will jointly operate a wide variety of income level increasing programs that include a Livestock Bank, Dried Herb Fund, Credit Union, Vegetable Planting, etc. They will also devise and carry out general life environment improvement plans. This will include the construction of simple restrooms and wastewater disposal plants, as well as donating money to children for their meals.
Do Young Kim, head of SK Telecom’s Community Relations Team, commented in his congratulatory speech during the ground-breaking ceremony "SK Telecom hopes that the successful operation of this livestock experiment station will contribute to Mongolian agricultural and economic development. We also expect that the friendly and cooperative ties between Korea and Mongolia will be further strengthened through this project".
The participants in the ceremony were: Moon Kyu Kang, president of the Community Chest, Won Ho Gwak, the Korean Minister to Mongolia, Dindiv Tervisadawik, a congressman in Mongolia.
