A total of 29 people participated in the oversea training trip to the U.S. Sixteen were the winners of the contest, and thirteen were their teachers and voluntary guardians.
The visiting group visited a variety of facilities for disabled people in the U.S. for nine days and eight nights (August 12th to 20th)
The winners of the ’2004 SK Telecom Internet Search Contest for Physically Challenged Youth’ visited the Kennedy Space Center and a variety of facilities for disabled people.
This Overseas Training Program was conducted for nine days and eight nights with the aim of giving the winners of the contest and their instructors an opportunity to obtain direct first-hand experience and knowledge about various aspects of the diverse advanced culture in the U.S. A total of 29 people participated in this training trip. Sixteen were the winners (Grand Prize / Golden Prize) of the contest, and thirteen were their teachers and voluntary guardians.
During the training trip, the participants visited the house of Rockefeller’s birth, the White House, Lincoln Center, a Parliamentary House, Colombia University, Smith Sonian Museum, Kennedy Space Center, and many other famous places and facilities.
The 2004 SK Telecom Internet Search Contest for Physically Challenged Youth" was held on the 23rd of June. In this contest, a total of 250 disabled students (125 teams) from 138 special schools nationwide had a chance to demonstrate their skill and ability to function in cyber space. Based on the results of the scoring, SK Telecom selected a total of sixteen teams (four teams for each prize) for Grand, Gold, Silver, and Bronze Prizes. The final match was divided into four categories. These were: hearing impaired, physical disabilities, visual disabilities and the mentally-handicapped.
