With the contract with NURSAT, the export volume of SK Telecom’s wireless Internet platforms now exceeds fifty million dollars.
Sung Chul Hong, vice-president and head of SK Telecom’s Global Business Division commented, "SK Telecom has been actively advancing into overseas markets by commercializing the NATE platform and its service operational know-how that is based on its technological superiority and service operational expertise for the wireless Internet. As the export volume of SK Telecom’s wireless Internet platform now exceeds fifty million dollars with the contract with NURSAT, SK Telecom’s new business model to advance into overseas markets is substantially contributing to the development of our national economy".
Since 2002 SK Telecom has been actively advancing into overseas markets with its excellent wireless Internet technology. This is demonstrated by the provision of wireless Internet platforms to APBW of Taiwan (worth about 30 million dollars), Pelephone of Israel (worth about 10 million dollars) and TA Orange of Thailand (worth about 6.3 million dollars). By supplying a wireless Internet platform to Kazakhstan, the company is following a plan for making inroads into Central Asia and the CIS countries, which have an enormous potential for wireless Internet services development.
