SK Teletech announced today that its new product SKY (model number IM-700) will debut in the cellular handset market on December 21. SKY is the company’s first model developed with Kyocera of Japan based on SK Telecom’s accumulated know-how in cellular system operation.
IM-700’s ergonomic design maximizes user comfort and its metallic coating and "combination colors" give it highly a sophisticated look. When loaded with the slim-sized battery for general consumer use, the handset weighs only 89g and its size is also ideal to carry (115X42X21mm).
SK Teletech conducted a series of wide-ranging consumer preference surveys to develop a handset with maximum convenience based on cutting-edge technology.

The company adopted a new circuit design that significantly reduces required power and when tested with a battery of the same capacity, IM-700 lasts 30% longer while in use and twice as longer while at standby as the existing models.
First model that comes in with the remote vibrator that helps detect incoming calls easily and reminds the handset location
The remote vibrator which users can wear like a pager allows users to detect incoming calls easily in a crowded, noisy room or outdoors. If seven to nine minutes pass with the user 1.5 m or farther away from the handset, the vibrator is activated to alarm the user. Users will no longer have to worry that they may misplace their cell phones.
Automatic answering capability that lasts longer than in any other domestic models
When the user is in a meeting or behind a wheel, she can activate the automatic answering mode. The user can either choose recorded message or record her own voice message. The caller can leave a message just like in a regular answering machine.
Wireless data service and optional PC capability
IM-700 enables wireless data communication (Internet access) and offers optional "Data Manager" function which allows users to fiddle with the cell phone functions through their PCs. With Data Manager, users can edit and insert animated or photographic images that will appear on the handset screen, 200-plus alert signals and their own phone book.
Quick hangul entry
IM-700 shows all the letter components of hangul (Korean alphabet) on the liquid crystal screen (LCD) so that users can enter letters and symbols without referring to the letters on the keypad. Since most hangul letters comprise of three letter components, the first, the middle and the last components pop up on the LCD in the order of input to ensure quick and easy composition of sentences.
The "etiquette mode" button enhances the sensitivity of the microphone. Therefore, if the mode is on during a phone conversation, the mic catches even the soft whispering of the user. When there is an incoming call while the mode is on, the handset vibrates instead of giving off loud alert signal and the key-tone becomes mute. This function is useful when the user is in a public place such as a classical concert or a subway train and do not want to interrupt other people.

IM-700 is developed to meet the needs of Speed 011 users based on the experience and know-how in cellular system operations of SK Telecom who now has 5.8 million subscribers. Therefore, it delivers services with the highest call success rate and the optimal voice quality, reflecting faithfully the characteristics of the Speed 011 cellular network. Even when the user is in an area where the radio wave is weak such as the basement of a building, she can enjoy the same level of connectivity and voice quality as in any other places. Users do not have to memorize the enhanced service codes to use sorisam - Speed 011 voice mail service, automatic call routing, info-sam, traffic information and call placement restriction thanks to the menu function that shows all the codes on the LCD for quick and easy access.
