Proves the excellence of Korean information technology by directly demonstrating the world’s first satellite DMB service.
Presents new technology, and a new vision, through the images of SK Telecom’s past, present and future.
Demonstrates the ’Ubiquitous World’ by presenting future technologies such as satellite DMB, Digital Home, and M-Commerce
SK Telecom announced its participation in ’Expo Com Wireless KOREA 2003’, which will take place at the COEX Exhibition Center (Samsung-dong, Seoul) from the 19th through the 22nd of May. In the exhibition, the company has focused on shaping its image as a leader into the ’Ubiquitous World’ in which the Korean mobile communications industry is becoming a driving force. In particular, SK Telecom and TU Media Corp. plan to prove the excellence of Korean information technology by directly demonstrating the world’s first satellite DMB service that uses Gap Fillers.
SK Telecom will also present a new vision, and showcase new cutting-edge technologies that demonstrate the future state of Korea’s mobile communications technologies. It will also use three exhibition sections to outline the technological course followed for the last 20 years, and up to the present. The three sections are "Historical Pavilion", "Ubiquitous Club", and "Ubiquitous Town". About 50 telecom companies around the globe will participate in the exhibition. These include Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Qualcom, etc.
In the "History Pavilion" section, SK Telecom shows a streaming video that outlines the development of the Korean mobile communications industry over the last 20 years. The pavilion also has an exhibit of terminals that help viewers understand the history of Korean mobile communications by showing the changing types of terminals used during each period. These range from car phones and pagers at the initial stage, to today’s state-of-the-art handsets such as M-banking and Telematics-enabled handsets.
In the "Ubiquitous Club" section, SK Telecom introduces the ’June VOD’ service, and demonstrates that it offers a wide variety of streaming video services such as movies, broadcasting and sports, by using an EV-DO network that was commercialized by SK Telecom for the first time in the world. The company also demonstrates the MOD service that lets customers enjoy MP3 music by searching for, and downloading or transmitting, the music. Furthermore, SK Telecom plans to showcase a vast array of state-of-the-art services that include, "NATE Photo" service which allows customers to print the photos taken by their cellular phones, "Mobile Cyworld" service, and "Network Games" which enables interactive three dimensional games.
At the "Ubiquitous Town" section, SK Telecom demonstrates a ubiquitous world based on next-generation advanced technologies. These include satellite DMB service, a Mobile Banking service called "MONETA", and digital home services that have been launched in pilot regions such as Seoul, Busan, and Daejeon.
