Social contribution activities were carried out under the slogans ’Heart of Togetherness’ and ’Happy Korea’
SK Telecom’s social contribution activities were evaluated by interviewing beneficiaries of the company’s social contribution activities, and experts in social welfare.
On May 17th, SK Telecom published the ’2003 Social Contribution White Book’ that outlines the many social contribution activities SK Telecom conducted to aid unfortunate people who are out of the main stream of society. These activities were carried out under the slogans ’Heart of Togetherness’, and ’Happy Korea’. The 2003 budget for these activities was 98 billion won.
The 2003 Social Contribution White Book project was focused on the following areas: "Enhancing the special nature of social contribution activities", "Promoting the spirit of enterprise", "Strengthening cooperative ties with social welfare foundations", and "Fostering volunteer groups in the company"
In the year 2003, SK Telecom’s Social Contribution Activities were concentrated on six areas: Supporting needy families (sharing), helping physically challenged people (world of togetherness), fostering volunteer groups in the company (encouraging all company members to participate in social contribution activities), cooperating with NGO and NPO (network of togetherness), implementing public welfare marketing (service of togetherness), and supporting overseas training and culture (a tomorrow of togetherness). In tune with these goals, the company conducted a variety of community related activities. These included offering cleaning service for needy family members, hosting Internet Search Contests for physically challenged youth, launching social contribution and customer support groups, participating in the reconstruction of a peace school in Iraq, and sponsoring numerous NGOs and NPOs.
The white book also introduces the personal story of some of the beneficiaries of SK Telecom’s social contribution activities, and carries interviews of experts in social welfare. This ’White Book’ will produce deep emotions and excitement in the readers.
Shin Bae Kim, president of SK Telecom commented, "The ’White Book’ is aimed at shaping a warmer and happier society. We expect it will encourage more people to actively participate in SK Telecom’s efforts to help improve life for the needy, in every area of our society".
SK Telecom plans to distribute the ’2003 Social Contribution White Book’ through many distribution channels which include, branch offices, retail outlets, and TTL Zones nationwide, disabled people-related facilities and institutions nationwide, social welfare-related foundations and institutions, public and university libraries, government institutions, media firms, and major national enterprises.
