180,000 Second-hand Beepers, Totaling 105 Million Won
SK Telecom that has led the drive to help the teenage family supporters for years donated 105 million won, the revenue from the "Donate Your Beeper" campaign, to the Korea Welfare Foundation at a ceremony held at the SK Telecom headquarters today.
The company paid 2,500 won to anyone who brought in a used pager and if the person wished, it put the money plus one thousand won to the fund designed to help the underprivileged children.
88 million won of the money donated today came from the sale of the 180,000 used pagers to China and Hong Kong and 17 million from the company.
SK Telecom has been very active in promoting the cause of helping the underprivileged youth through such campaigns as "Bring the 10-won Coins", "Job Fair for the Young Family Supporters", "Be a Sponsor for the Young Family Supporters", "Write a Letter to Your Family" and "Help the Underprivileged Children". Recently, the company launched an ad campaign featuring young family supporters.
