President of SK Telecom urges that global CDMA operators develop cooperative plans in the field of marketing and network operation, during his speech at the welcoming ceremony of the ’CDMA Operators Summit 2003’ in Tokyo.
The ’CDMA Operators Summit 2004’ will take place in Korea next year under the sponsorship of SK Telecom.
Moon Soo Pyo, president of SK Telecom, participated in the ’CDMA Operators Summit 2003’. In his speech during the welcoming ceremony he urged increased nongovernmental diplomacy in the telecom area. The Summit took place on the 23rd of October in Tokyo. The aim of these meetings is to promote global CDMA operators’ mutual development by strengthening cooperative ties with one another.
President Pyo proposed an increase in the global CDMA operators’ cooperative plans and activities during his welcoming speech at the Summit. He also had a variety of business meetings with several prominent CDMA business leaders such as Irwin Jacobs, chairman of Qualcomm, and Wang Zien Zou, president of China Unicom.
The telecom leaders at the Summit agreed that the ’CDMA Operators Summit 2004’ take place in Korea next year, under the sponsorship of SK Telecom.
President Pyo stated in his welcoming speech "The mobile communications industry has been experiencing a drastically changing environment due to the convergence of many different industries. This means that close cooperative ties are required among telecom operators". In this regard, he proposed the launching of working groups to share marketing know-how, and technological cooperation for the construction of hybrid networks, and voice and data roaming services.
After finishing the welcoming ceremony, participants joined in deliberate and detailed discussions on the subjects of the ’Future of Mobile Multi-media’, ’Next Generation Networks’, and ’Further Collaboration in the CDMA World).
High-ranking officials and leaders from 16 worldwide CDMA operators and organizations in 11 countries (Korea, China, Japan, USA, Canada, India, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand) participated in the summit.
The first ’CDMA Operators Summit’ took place in Beijing in December of 2002, under the sponsorship of China Unicom.
