SK Telecom announced its execution of emergency support activities for the regions damaged by typhoon "Maemi". The specific support efforts being made are: ?exempting customers damaged by the Typhoon from cellular service fees ?renting cellular handsets free of charge during after-sales service period ?operating volunteer groups to carry out support activities for the recovery in flood-stricken regions.
First of all, the company will exempt customers damaged by the Typhoon from cellular service fees (flat rate and domestic call charges) for September up to a limit of 50,000 won per line. To apply for the exemption, the customer should visit an SK Telecom branch office, or designated sales outlet between September 15th and October 11th, to submit typhoon damage certificates issued by county/town/or district offices in flood-stricken regions.
For the customers who have flood-damaged handsets, SK Telecom will also rent 5,000 cellular handsets free of charge during the after-sales service period, and send handset repair service groups to the flood-stricken regions.
The company will organize volunteer groups, taken from branch office staff members nationwide, to directly carry out support activities to aid the recovery of flood-stricken regions. Furthermore, SK Telecom will establish and operate a ’Rainbow Volunteer Group’ that supports the costs of the volunteer activities and supplies necessary for the recovery. To participate in the Rainbow Volunteer Group, any individual or group of applicants must register on the ’SPEED 011 Rainbow’ bulletin board (www.ttl.co.kr). This registration begins on September 14th.
The SK Telecom Busan branch office has already urgently supplied 1,000 bottles of pure water to 500 flood victims in cooperation with The Republic of Korea National Red Cross. It also distributed 2,000 kilograms of rice to the victims of floods in the Kangseo, Noksan, and Gijang regions.
In addition, in the near future SK Telecom will provide a variety of additional relief programs to help the recovery of flood victims, thereby helping to fulfill its role of a good corporate citizen.
For more specific information on the relief programs, people can make inquiries at the SK Telecom Customer Service Center (Tel: 1566-0011), or at branch offices nationwide.
