SK Telecom To Expand Premium Service
Cellular service users seem to be getting treatment that suits their social status soon.
SK Telecom (President: Jung Uck Seo), now offering various discount services at the affiliated stores, reduced user rates, insurance to cover misplaced phones and free repair/maintenance service to its Leaders Club members, announced that it will increase the number of the affiliated stores to 3,000, the greatest of its kind in the country, and host a nationwide fall concert tour for members.
This decision will allow 1.7 million Speed 011 Leaders Club members a maximum of 60% discounts at more than 3,000 stores and give greater concrete benefits to the "VIP" users. Because of this increase in the affiliated store count is expected to help the users save a significant amount of money, the company will be able to give practical help to the loyal customers who are tightening their belts in the wake of the IMF bailout.
The premium service for VIP users has been limited to mostly credit card companies, banks and insurance companies. Adopting it for its VIP users, SK Telecom is considered to be a pioneer in deploying a new marketing scheme in the telecom market where competition for securing more users is getting intensified.
In order to further extend the benefits VIP users receive, SK Telecom is planning to increase the number of the affiliated stores to 4,000 next year and to 5,000 by the year 2000, and to develop a new differentiated VIP user program to deliver practical benefits on a continual basis.
