90 Teenagers Join Three-day Camp at Taejeon Expo Science Park and Muju Resort
SK Telecom (President: Jung Uck Seo) announced that it is inviting 90 teenagers from all over the country to the 1998 SK Telecom Love & Hope Camp, it opens at the Central R&D Center in Taejeon and the Muju Resort in the north Cholla province from August 12 to 14.
The Camp is part of the Disadvantaged Youth Help Campaign that SK Telecom launched last year to give hope to the youths who had to take the role of family supporters in a difficult economic situation because they lost their parents or their parents are not capable of supporting the family.
The company expects that offer the teenagers an opportunity to realize that people care about them and to learn about nature and train their mind and body.
The company says that the participants will visit exhibition rooms and watch movies at the Expo Science Park in Taejeon and then have more fun with the games and rides at the Muju Resort. It is also planning a campfire, a hike in the Dugyu Mountain and "The Fireflies Are Your Friends Night" to help the youths feel closer to nature. Also Globalcare, a medical volunteer group, will give the children physical checkups to make sure that the economically difficult situation does not threaten their health.
The camp will offer the children a chance to meet people who were young family supporters to give the children hope and courage. In addition, the company says that it is planning to collect the stories told by the camp participants about their experience at the camp and make them into a book so that they can always keep it fresh in their minds.
SK Telecom has been very active in helping the disadvantaged teenagers through such campaigns as "Donate Your Beepers", "Bring the 10-won Coins", "Write a Letter to Your Family", and "Be a Family to the Young Family Supporters". The company says that it will continue to make its best efforts to help the disadvantaged children through its charitable activities and to meet its obligation as a responsible member of society.
