SK Telecom completed development of the `NATE ?Browser` as a next generation wireless multimedia solution together with the specialist company called Infraware. The company applied it into SK Teletech`s SKY IM-5000 model and introduced it into the market. One of the users is shown watching wireless Internet content through new browser on the cellular phone.
On the 20th of October, SK Telecom, together with the national venture company, announced the development of a next generation windows type wireless Internet browser.
SK Telecom completed development of the ’NATE ?Browser’ as a next generation wireless multimedia solution together with the specialist company called Infraware (www.infraware.co.kr). The company applied it into SK Teletech’s SKY IM-5000 model and introduced it into the market.
SK Telecom developed and applied the technology, for the first time in the nation, of a browser that supports OMA (Open Mobile Alliance, Formerly WAP Forum) as the next generation wireless internet standard.
’NATE ?Browser’, as a next generation browser, increases the data handling capacity more than 3 times compared to the existing WAP 1.2 browser, and it has superior usability with the all kinds of windows type functions that are similar to the wired Internet. With this browser, users can retrieve previous sites through the history function, display unique and rich images with various icons, and show all different kinds of screens by CP directly applying background screen colors and letter colors.
SK Telecom will expand cellular handsets that incorporate this browser to 4 models by the end of this year. Moreover, the company has plans to install this browser in all models of handsets put into the market next year.
By introducing the ’NATE ?Browser’ which enables next generation wireless Internet service, SK Telecom can clearly accelerate the activation of wireless Internet services throughout the nation.
