Starting a ’NATE Campus’ service at 10 university campuses nationwide including Dongduk Women?s University, and Silla University in November of this year.
Expanding NATE Campus’ service to 110 universities throughout the country by the end of next year.
SK Telecom (www.sktelecom.com) launched ’NATE Campus’, a specialized service for university students and faculty members, into the university campus market.
On the 11th of this month, the company registered the ’NATE Campus’ Service Stipulations with the Ministry of Information Communication, and announced the start of ’NATE Campus’ service. It will use an exclusive PDA device designed specifically for 10 university campuses, such as Dongduk Women?s University, and Silla University.
SK Telecom plans to expand the ’NATE Campus’ service to 110
universities by the end of next year. The company will also develop and supply, 4 or 5 exclusive PDA devices that can accommodate various OSs.
’NATE Campus?, which supports both voice and data, utilizes a wireless LAN and WPABX net inside the campus, and a CDMA network outside of the campus. It is a mobile platform based, specialized service that enables university campus tailored solutions in a mobile environment. Examples are: basic applications in school administration, groupware, library management, group activities, a transaction system, and other solutions for community subjects of study.
In addition, this university-tailored service lets students, professors, and faculty members, create their own content that fits their own specific purpose and usage. For example, text or lecture materials, university information, and other related information.
Viewing this year as a period of proliferation of the mobile campus markets, SK Telecom will strive to advance, and strongly lead the university market, by providing a variety of devices having a rich OS. This exclusive service will have an affordable rate plan, excellent content and specialized packaging for each university.
