Voice Memo Service Combines Written Message with Voice Message?
Customers who subscribe to 011 or 017 cellular service can use the Voice Memo Service which allows users to transmit an SMS together with a voice message.
SK Telecom (www.sktelecom.com) announced the launch of ?Voice Memo Service? starting on the 12th of August. This service allows users to send and receive a written title for the message, together with the voice message, through a cellular phone. In addition, the Voice Memo Service can be used not only for 011 and 017 subscribers, but also for other cellular service subscribers.
This Voice Memo Service, that combines a written message with a voice message, can simultaneously transmit a written title of the message (within 10 letters) and a 1 minute recorded voice message. This service has been offered to 011 subscribers since last June.
SK Telecom has developed this service with Widerthen.Com (www.widerthan.com). This new Voice Memo Service makes up for the defect in the SMS that results in an 80byte limit on the length of the message, and the inconvenience of inputting every message directly. The receiver of a voice message can determine the outline of the message through the written title, before listening to the voice message.
The transmission of a voice memo must be done through a voice memo function enabled cellular handset. To use the service, users choose ?Message Transmission? and ?Voice Memo Writing? on the menu, and input the receivers? cellular number and the title of message. They then record the message as soon as they are connected to the ?Voice Memo Recording? menu.
Regardless of the type or model of handset, users can transmit a voice memo by pressing ?15251? and connecting to ARS. In the near future, SK Telecom will allow customers to use this service through connecting to NATE service or NATE homepage (www.nate.com) from a cellular phone.
The customer who receives a voice memo, can listen to the message by pressing the ?Send button? after identifying the title of the message and senders? phone number through the SMS. Handsets that currently have the voice memo function, are SCH-X700 from Samsung Electronics, and V730 from Motorola. During September of this year, SKY handsets from SK Teletech and handsets from LG Electronics with the voice memo function will be introduced to the market.
The service use rate is 30 won per each one time use, and the SMS use rate and call rate for voice message recording will be charged. When using the simultaneous transmission service that allows a user to send the message to up to 10 persons at the same time, only a single SMS use rate will be charged.
The simultaneous transmission service allows users to send any information or announcement more rapidly and economically to sales persons, or other community groups, such as alumni and hobby groups, among others.
