Press Release
Up to 20% discount & tax return for pre-payers
SK Telecom(President Jung Uck Seo) is offering the most benefits to customers through its Special discount system for Speed011 & Speed012 subscribers who paid monthly service charges prior to settlement date. Under the new system to be operated until June 30, the amount subscriber paid in advance bears about 20% annual interest rate which gets deducted at the time of payment.
For example, a subscriber who paid 100,000 won on May 1 in advance was charged 30,000 won by month-end. When this subscriber is billed on June 26, 3070 interest-linked deduction is given for the period between May 1 and June 26, and only 26,930 won is billed.
If this customer’s June service fee is 40,000 won, additional 1200 won is deducted as an interest on the remaining 73,070 won and 38,800 won is billed.
Discount rate offered for paging services is adjusted upward at around 20~25% annual interest rate. In case subscribers pre-paid three-month fee, only 23,232 won is billed as 768 won is deducted from 24,000 regular fee.
Special Pre-payment discount system for cellular phone is in effect between May 1 and June 30; for paging services during April 15 and June 30 period. Pre-payment can be made through Bank GIRO bill or at local SK Telecom offices.
SK Telecom expects the pre-payment system will create a win-win situation for both subscribers and the company: customers benefit from higher-than-market-rate interest and tax deduction while the company can have stable payment inflow and enhanced customer loyalty.
The new pre-payment system is in line with the leading Korean telecom carriers’ long-standing efforts at customer-oriented marketing. SK Telecom has also introduced Deposit-free subscription for the first time in Korea and adopted flexible pricing system. Recently it went into Joint-marketing campaign with Samsung Electronics Co. under which subscribers can upgrade to new terminal after 30-month subscription at a discount price.
