To help the "teenage breadwinners" through exporting used beepers
SK Telecom (President: Jung Uck Seo) that has supported a series of campaigns to help the "teenage breadwinners" begins another campaign to help the financially troubled teenagers. This time the company initiates a drive to collect pagers no longer in use and export them to raise fund to help the teenagers.
Anyone who brings in used pagers will be given 2,500 won per pager. The campaign will be kicked off today and continue through April 30 at the SK Telecom branch offices, franchise offices and major department stores such as Shinsegae and Hyundai.
A company official says, "through this campaign, we would like to help overcome the foreign exchange crunch by exporting the out-of-use pagers and at the same time to alleviate the financial difficulties the needy teenagers are facing."
Last year, the company conducted a survey on "how people dispose of their pagers they no longer need" and the result showed that the number of pagers people just keep in their homes amounted to 3.4 million.
SK Telecom also led a campaign called "The Great Love Built With the 10 Won Coins - 011 Campaign to Help the Teenage Breadwinners" last December, and this February staged another campaign entitled "Send Letters to Your Family Campaign," and gave 1,000 won for each letter to the needy teenagers. The company is very active in taking initiatives to help neglected teenagers and give them hope.
