The test period will take place from September 3 to 14 for 150,000 of TGI Friday?s guests. SK Telecom offers of discount coupons worth 5,000 Korean won and free food-tasting appeared on cellular phone screens to TGI Friday?s guests. The guests could identify the presence of a coupon by connecting to n.TOP service or ARS after receiving a character message(SMS). Then they show the coupons appeared on cellular phone and submitting an OK Cashbag Card when they order food. Afterwards, they can decide whether they want to continue to receive other advertisements via cellular phone or not.
SK Telecom expects that this test will provide an opportunity to figure out the possibility of mobile advertisement?s success, and to settle mobile advertisement’s place in the advertisement market. In preparation, The company is readying its full-fledged commercial service by signing a contract with mAdnet(www.m-adnet.co.kr), SK Telecom?s mobile advertisement agency, last month. This commercial service will be available beginning this autumn season.
Recently mobile advertisement has been drawing keen attention because the number of cellular phone subscribers recently reached over 28 million and high-speed wireless Internet services have been launched. SK Telecom will introduce a new concept of advertisement using a customized-advertisement format that will satisfy each customers diverse tastes, through using mobile advertisement?s characteristics such as mobility, positioning, personalization, and Timeliness among others.
