Twenty-two people including Internet Search Contest winners visited the west coast of the U.S. for seven days and eight nights.
Physically challenged youth will make a training trip abroad to nurture their spirit of challenge and inspiration, as well as to gain knowledge in the field of information and communication.
SK Telecom (www.sktelecom.com) provided a training trip to the west coast of the U.S. for 7 days and 8 nights from August 16 to August 23. Participants in this training trip were a total of 22 people. Ten were the winners of the " 2001 SK Telecom Internet Search Contest for Physically Challenged Youth", and thirteen were their teachers and guardians. The itinerary of this trip included the following destinations. Silicon Valley - the Mecca of information communication. The Exploratorium of the Science Museum. Monterey Aquarium - the biggest in the world. And Standford University - one of the most prominent private U.S. universities. In visiting these places, the participants obtained direct first-hand experience, and knowledge about various aspects of diverse cultures and technologies. As a highlight of the trip, the physically challenged youth will attend a baseball game in L.A. in which their hero player Chan Ho Park will be pitching. After the game they will meet him personally.
In addition, SK Telecom is actively involved with "The SK Telecom Social Contribution Program" that provides such socially rewarding programs as an Internet Search Contest for the benefit of disadvantaged youth. This includes orphaned teenagers who support their siblings, and physically challenged youth. SK telecom also actively supports the development of information technology for special schools, and the provision of meals for undernourished children. In the latter part of this year, SK Telecom plans to construct the Home Page for special schools for disabled youth.
