Donated 140 million Korean won to Habitat for Humanity Korea.
This funded the construction of two houses in Korea and housing construction in underdeveloped countries.
SK Telecom (www.sktelecom.com) sponsored the program ?Construction of Loving Houses? that Habitat for Humanity Korea (www.habitat.or.kr) has been carrying out.
SK Telecom has been carrying out social contribution activities to aid those people who are lost in the shadows of society. This includes groups such as orphaned teenagers who support their siblings, disabled youth, and many other disadvantaged youth. As one of these social contribution activities, the company donated 140 million Korean won to aid in building housing units for low-income families. To this end, Jung-Nam Cho, the Vice-chairman of SK Telecom, delivered the supporting funds for the construction of Loving Houses to Sung-rak Choi, Director of Habitat for Humanity Korea on July 27, 2001 in SK Telecom?s headquarters office.
The supporting fund will be used for the construction of two houses in Asan city and Kunsan city. Ten percent of the funds will be also used to support housing construction in underdeveloped countries in Asia, Africa and South America.
Jung-Nam Cho, the Vice-chairman of SK Telecom, said, ? the two houses built through SK Telecom?s aid will be called a ?House for Opening Up A Bigger World?in relationship to the company?s slogan for its social contribution activities?. In addition ? I hope that these houses will provide shelter for disadvantaged youth. SK Telecom is determined to continue to be deeply and systematically involved in a wide range of activities that contribute to the welfare of society in the future? he added.
