2001 SK Telecom Camp of Love and Hope? Will Be Held for Orphaned Teenagers Who Support Their Siblings
2001.07.23 PrintOne hundred orphaned teenagers who support their siblingswill participate in the camp that will be held for three days and four nights beginning July 23rd.
The camp sessions are filled with a variety of interesting and useful education programs about information technology, fire fighting, and cooking, among others.
SK Telecom (www.sktelecom.com) is hosting the "2001 SK Telecom Camp of Love and Hope" for three days and four nights beginning July 23 in the SK Telecom Human Resources Development Center in Ichon City, Kyonggido Province. The event was designed to provide orphaned teenagers who support their siblings with a chance to improve their ability to use information and communication tool and to instill proper motivation in them.
The SK Telecom Camp of Love and Hope is held every year and this 2001 camp is the third time it has been held. Korea Welfare Foundation selected and recommended one hundred boy and girl teenagers to participate in this camp. They each received a PC donated by SK Telecom last year.
The camp sessions provide participants with a variety of interesting and useful education programs on fire fighting, cooking, and swimming. The information technology includes homepage design, Internet search, and e-mail usage, among others.
Under the slogan, "Open Up a Bigger World", SK Telecom is striving to create an information-oriented world in which equal opportunity prevails and exclusion will become non-existent. SK Telecom said, "through this event, we provide orphaned teenagers who support their siblings with an opportunity to have a wide range of cultural experiences and basic knowledge regarding information and communications services and systems. In addition, our efforts will be directed at helping them cultivate the confidence and ability to adapt themselves to our information-based society".

These activities include donating PCs and offering computer classes to orphaned teenagers who support their siblings, offering Internet and computer class tours for special schools for disabled youth, donating PCs to the primary schools in country side, and many others".
