SK Telecom (NYSE:SKM) today announced that SK Planet Chief Operating Officer (COO) Jang Dong-hyun has been appointed as the new President and CEO of SK Telecom.
Since joining SK Telecom in 2000, Jang has served various key positions, including Head of Strategic Planning Division and Head of Marketing Division. Then in January 2014, he took the COO position at SK Planet, the platform subsidiary of SK Telecom.
After graduating with a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Seoul National University, Jang started his career at Yukong (now SK innovation) in 1991.
With his extensive experience accumulated over the past 23 years, Jang is expected to steer the company to sustained growth amidst rapidly changing market conditions by focusing on its core strength as a network operator and developing new businesses.
